Conventional Thyristor Controlled DC Charger System
NIMAC Thyristor-controlled Battery Charger consists of an input isolation transformer, thyristor set, filtering circuit, control unit and alarm monitoring board which can supply power to batteries and DC loads simultaneously. A single phase rectifier employs two-pulse controlled bridge whereas a full controlled thyristor set in six-pulse bridge is used in three phase charger. A twelve-pulse rectification reduces the level of Total Harmonic Current Distortion (THCD) that will be affecting AC mains is available at customer's choice.
During mains failure, power for the loads are provided by the system's battery which is rated to supply the DC load for specific duration. Upon restoration of the mains supply, the DC power flows to the battery recharges under a constant voltage / current limiting mode. Charges from rectifier to battery operation and vice versa have no effect whatsoever on the system output load. Peak load surpassing the rating of the rectifier will be supplied by the battery bank, which in floating condition, is automatically recharged each time when it delivers the current.
